Dust on dust

Lynn Hilborn from Grafton, Ontario The origin of the reflection nebula vdB 9 in Cassiopeia is the Cepheid variable star SU Cas; its blue light is reflected by surrounding dust, which are themselves partially shrouded by thicker dust clouds. This image represents 5 hours of exposure on an 8-inch scope in RGB filters.
