Tanmaye Vyas

Founder of Tanmaye's Amazing space.

I have to touch people  from every walks of life to make them understand, Astronomy & Space Science with full of love and passion since, 1986. Be a school student, teacher, enthusiast parent, curious grand parent or anyone who ever wishes to understand this amazing science in Gujrati, Hindi or English; I have always been ready and zealously explain at any time of the earth’s rotation.

Our Journey

1982-92
  • Astronomical Journey began with a small book on Astronomy, purchased from a book fair from Russia.
  • Actively volunteered the All Gujarat Amateur Astronomer’s Meet at Shreyas Foundation, Ahmedabad.
  • Participated with wife in 2nd All India Amateur Astronomers’ Meet at Vardha, Maharashtra, straight from honey moon.
  • 1993-95
    • Arranged third All India Amateur Astronomers’ Meet in Ahmedabad as one of the committee member, with the help of PRL​
    • Observed and recorded Radio Waves generated by the collision of Shoemaker Levy 9 on planet Jupiter​
    • Observed and recorded Total Solar Eclipse from the border area of Rajasthan Pakistan near Lunkaransar with 39 Amateur Astronomers, on Diwali​
    1996-99
  • Observed and recorded one of the most famous comet Hale Bopp.​
  • Observed and recorded Comet Hyakutake. It became famous for its longest visible tail of 100 degree as seen from the earth.​
  • Observed and recorded the century’s last solar eclipse from Bhachau, Kachchh.​
  • 2000-04
    • Bought my first telescope of 5” reflector. Since then till 2020 I might have shown to 1,00,000 people, explained Astronomy and Space Science to more than 1,50,000 through approximately 1,000 programs
    • A rare Venus transit Observed, recorded and showed to multiple citizens from Science city
    • Observed and recorded Mercury transit from the sun’s disc
    2006-07
  • Worked as subject expert to create film on Indian Monsoon for DECU, ISRO.
  • Received “Bade Dilwale” award from Red FM Radio for selflessly serving knowledge of astronomy and space science freely to society at large.
  • 2009
    • Worked as subject expert to create film on Indian Monsoon for DECU, ISRO.
    • Received “Bade Dilwale” award from Red FM Radio for selflessly serving knowledge of astronomy and space science freely to society at large.
    • Became head of Vedhshala – an Astronomical Observatory by restarting long closed institute and did multiple observation, lectures, competitions, etc. freely for all.

  • 2016-18
    • Lecturer at CEPT University to start Astronomy and Space Science as elective subjects to all UG and PG students.
    • TATA motors selected me for their “Aspiring People” series for Astronomy and made a small documentary film (to watch, click here)
    • Guided and designed an Astronomy course for LDRP M.Sc. Physics students’ regular course
    2019-22
  •  Delivered a lecture on “Ancient Indian Astronomy” at Western Ontario University, Canada
  • Started a club for all age group people who loves astronomy – ST@RT
  • We touched 5110 subscribers at the completion of 2 years of Youtube with 630+ videos
  • We are now ISRO recognized Space Tutor

  • As a Hobby:

  • Since 2015, learning astronomy from sir in bits and pieces. And also actively participated or volunteered in programs conducted by sir in Vedhsala. (2018-19)

  • Completely devoted to self learning Astronomy under guidance of Tanmaye sir.
  • Trying not to let a single subject or aspects in astronomy be untouched by me.

  • I have attended several workshops & conference on various fields of physics.
  • Just after graduation I enrolled myself for TASC (Tanmaye’s Amazing Space Commando) internship on September 2020 & I started diving into Astronomy with the guidance of Tanmaye sir.
  • I held an astronomical event “मातृछाया बाल गृह” NGO in Jaipur (Raj.).  (7th March, 2021)
  • I bought a GSO 6″DOBSONIAN REFLECTOR TELESCOPE, 20th January 2021 and since the 700+ people have peaked from it at places like Jawaharlal Kala Kendra (JKK), Jaipur with DST (Rajasthan).
  • Winter Solstice event with DST (Raj.) at Jantar Mantar (sundial making, time & position of sun, calculating earth’s circumference, telescopic observation etc. on 21st December, 2021.
  • On March equinox 2022, delivered a talk and explained relevant Jantar Mantar instruments.
  • Mars-Jupiter conjunction with DST at JKK on 4th April
  • Delivered a talk on honorarium basis for Nehru Planetarium on Jantar Mantar, Jaipur on World Heritage Day, 2022
  • Hosted a show for Lyrid meteor 2022 shower at Sambhar Lake with DST (Raj.)

  • I joined TAS as volunteer for celebration of World Space Week-2013 at Vedhshala, Ahmedabad; ever since then I have been part of almost all the activities carried out by TAS whether be it observation through telescope or any classroom activities.
  • I always enjoyed the wide spectrum of audience, from 8 year old naively curious children to 80 year old wise and enthusiast old people.
  • At TAS I did not learnt only Astronomy and Astrophysics but also management skills, public relations and most importantly constantly improved to be a better human.
  • Tanmaye Vyas! Getting involved into astronomy under his hood is best thing ever happened to me and I can safely say that he is the reason why my love for Physics never died.

    2009

    International Astronomy Union declared this year as International Astronomy Year. To celebrate, I visited nearly 182 different Municipal schools, Specially abled institutes, Deaf n Mute, Blind people, Orphanage, Old age homes, observation house, etc. throughout the year​

    During summer vacation, a famous fair called Vacation 2009, under my supervision, created a theme based on astronomy. Nearly 17,000 people visited my dome and enjoyed films, puzzles and presentations​

    Went to Wuhan, China with wife and a few amateur astronomers to observe and record longest Solar Eclipse of the century​

    Started celebrating World Space Week on a large scale from this year​
